The Boye Needle Company was an American company founded in Chicago in 1906, not England, though it did import British needles in its early days and some of its products were later manufactured in England. The brand is now a subsidiary of CSS Industries.

• Origins in Chicago: Boye Needle Company was established in Chicago, Illinois, by James H. Boye and two business partners. Its initial success came from a patented "Rotary Case" display cabinet that helped consumers easily find the correct needles and parts for various home sewing machines.
• Imports and Manufacturing: In its early years (late 19th and early 20th centuries), the firm imported needles from Britain and Germany, selling them under its own name. It quickly began manufacturing in the United States and, in 1917, introduced the first complete line of steel crochet hooks made in America.
