Here is a beautiful condition, original Stanley No.5 Wood Plane which is perfect for carpentry and joinery.

It’s an absolute beauty and quite unlike using a smaller sized plane. With the extra weight and heft it just glides and it’s an absolute joy to use. The size and weight really enhance the accuracy and finish.

Some very minor signs of age to the metal as you would expect but nothing that affects the functionality.

A couple of bumps and chips to the paintwork.

The blade cuts really well but you might like to sharpen it further and set the blade up to your specification.

Great for craftsmen who like to use original and traditional tools or alternatively, you might just like it for your collection?

Blade adjustment wheel moves very freely and to my eye the underside is in good, flat condition.

The original handles are good and solid and in very nice condition.

All in all, a great example of proper old school British engineering. They really don’t make them like this any more.
