Royal Doulton Geometric "Floral Pattern K" Plate C1930 With 1922-27 Backstamp
Approximately 10.25” diameter
Potteries like Royal Doulton routinely mass-produced plain, unpainted pottery blanks (known as bisque ware) and stamped them with the current production backstamp during the initial clay firing process.
These blanks were then held in storage warehouses, sometimes for several years.
When the Geometric "Floral Pattern
K" series was designed and introduced in 1929, decorators pulled these existing, older blanks from the inventory to paint and finish the new design.
As a result, an item finished and sold in 1929 or 1930 can easily carry
a backstamp from the 1922-1927 crownless era.
This stunning plate is in very good condition. I believe it is bone china.
