Original vintage pinback from Opening Day at Dodger Stadium, April 10, 1962 — the day the Los Angeles Dodgers played their first regular-season game in their new home against the Cincinnati Reds.
This piece was made for The Stadium Club, the private club/restaurant inside Dodger Stadium, and features early baseball-style artwork with two old-time players, a baseball crest, and bold blue lettering reading: “Opening Day April 10, 1962 The Stadium Club Dodgers - Reds.”
The date is what makes this pin special. Dodger Stadium was the dream project of Walter O’Malley, the Dodgers owner who moved the franchise from Brooklyn to Los Angeles and pushed to build a permanent home for the team in Chavez Ravine. After several seasons playing at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, the Dodgers finally opened Dodger Stadium in 1962. That first game on April 10 marked the beginning of one of baseball’s most iconic ballparks. The Reds won the game 6–3, but for Dodgers history, the real headline was the opening of the stadium itself.
The pin measures approximately 4” across and has the original pinback hardware on the reverse. It shows honest age throughout, including cream-colored toning, light surface marks, small spots, edge wear, and oxidation/discoloration on the back and pin hardware. The front graphics remain strong and display very well.
A great piece for a Dodgers collector, Los Angeles baseball display, Dodger Stadium collection, or vintage Opening Day memorabilia collection. This item has not been professionally authenticated or graded, so please review all photos carefully for condition and details.
