For sale is this very nice Royal Gold Quiet DeLuxe portable typewriter with the original case. As you can see from the photos - this has a bit of wear on the gold which appears to be quite typical of this machine. Serial number indicates 1951 and this one has a gold name plate of the owners father where the "Quiet DeLuxe" plate normally goes. It seems to work/type fine - ribbon is OK but could be replaced. Here's a bit of the history behind this model Royal.
The Royal Typewriter Company produced a special edition of the Quiet Deluxe with gold-plated accents,[4] "Some of these golden models were given as awards to Royal Typewriter company employees. Others were given to high school students who were winners of writing competitions sponsored by Royal Typewriter."[5]
One of these is reported to have been commissioned by author Ian Fleming "After finishing the first draft of Casino Royale, Ian Fleming rewarded himself with a Royal Quiet Deluxe Portable gold-plated typewriter, which he used to write the rest of his books and short stories.
As you can see from the photos this is in very good/pre-owned condition -the photos for dimensions and additional condition report. This will ship USPS..
