This auction is for a wonderful pair of books on the life and music of Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys and the history of Western Swing Music including Milton Brown, the Light Crust Doughboys and much, much more. Bob Wills was an incredible band leader and a huge personality, not without his personal demons, but dedicated to his music. Both books are well researched, presented in a very readable style and generously illustrated with photographs from the period.

San Antonio Rose by Charles R Townsend has 395 information packed pages and many photographs. It is from 1976 and in excellent condition with just a couple of wrinkles and a 1mm tear on the dust jacket, fantastic for a 50 year old book.

Bob Wills King of Western Swing by his daughter, Rosetta Wills, is an affectionate and personal biography of one of Country Music's most important and influential artists. Ms Wills does not gloss over her father's shortcomings and this is an honest and unflinching tale of a wonderful period in American music. 224 pages, illustrated, this book from 1998 is almost like new, Very Good Condition.
