Lovely example of the Rivarossi Italy American FEF 3 4-8-4 steam locomotive in black and silver livery of the Union Pacific Railroad.

Rivarossi produced a number of different variants of the Northern from the late 1970s to the late 1990s.  This particular version was a new release in the 1993 model year, depicting the loco in its original livery without the smoke deflectors added during the 1946 overhaul.

Very unusually given its age, this locomotive benefits from the addition of a Tsunami TSU 1000 digital sound decoder, originally supplied by Digitrains and professionally fitted.  All paperwork and instructions have been retained as shown.

Has been track tested and is in full working order - runs well and all sound functions were working on test.

Comes in original box with Rivarossi paperwork also retained.  Foam inserts have a tendency to degrade after this length of time but this one appears fairly good still.
