Jaguar XJ6 Series 1 4.2 SWB 1972

Beautiful Jaguar XJ6 4.2 in white with original burgundy leather interior, automatic, sympathetically restored to a good standard.

I bought this Jag in 2024, I couldn't resist it! I imported it from Finland where it had been restored at sometime. My intention was as you can see from the photo's was to have some fun with photoshoots and even hired it out for a couple of weddings. Being a bit of a perfectionist I soon began work on the mechanical parts that needed addressing and here I am £7.5k lighter! I'm embarrassed how much money I have spent on it but on top of the £10k to buy it it has become a labour of love. I will list the main points as follows but this is not exhaustive, I have all the work documented with photo's.

When I imported it it was given an age related registration by DVLA but I had a heritage check done by the jaguar heritage trust on the car and it is an original UK car sold by a dealer in Southampton and I have the original registration number if you want to do some research. Good to know that the car is heritage status so not Tax or MOT required.

1. Renewed left fuel tank, replaced both Fuel pumps, right hand tank good with a new sender, converted to manual choke, run's on premium fuel but I still add a small amount of lead additive.
2. Converted to electronic ignition, new high power coil, new leads, new oil gauge, new oil sender, the engine has been previously rebuilt with 60 PSI even when hot! Engine really smooth with plenty of power.
3. Rear sub frame removed and rebuilt, new coils (4) new shocks (4) new inbound discs, pads, new rubbers, handbrake pads, new drag arm and bushes, rear diff seal replaced and new diff pan gasket.
4. Front suspension and brakes rebuilt. New coils, new shocks, new anti roll bar bushes, new calipers, new pads, new discs.
5. Completely renewed all of the air conditioning pipes, valves, air dryer, regassed, new heater blowers (both sides) (air con still does not blow cold!)
6. Stripped bottom end of auto box, changed filters and renewed auto box lubricant.
7. New high power battery.
8. Made my own  and fitted matching carpets, renewed the drivers seat swab, changed the steering wheel back to original and but I still have the new sporty wooden version if you want to modernise. ( i prefer originality)
9. The Tyres are new and the white walls are integral.
10. The body work is in good condition, new sills have been fitted, new wheel arches and the chassis looks in good condition. There has been some welding in the drivers foot well (to be expected).

What needs doing I hear you say? Its a classic car so there is always something to do. You could renew the upholstery but I prefer the old leather which also smells nice! You could get the bumpers re-chromed but again I think they look great as they are.

Other info:

1. Unfortunately the car did not come with previous history file, but I have a thick folder of all the work I have completed on the car.
2. The odemeter stopped early on when I bought it and it has covered approx 1000 miles in my ownership.
3. The car has always been garaged and I believe it was always garaged in Finland where the car was exported to 20 years ago.

The car run's beautifully, it literally purr's, it starts easy and has good oil pressure and is a pleasure to drive. I have no qualms driving this car distance.

I know I'm not going to recover the £7.5k but I paid £10k for it before the work so if you are thinking about making an offer do the sum's and make me a sensible offer. I highly recommend you come and look at the car before buying, no buy the car and negotiate after!

Let me know what you think, happy to answer any questions.

Happy bidding
