Antique genuine leather wrapped, cedar-lined case with gilt tooled British Coat of Arms, from the late 19th to early 20th Century.
It is 17cm in length, 11.5cm wide and 5cm in height.
Stamp to base: Leather Made in Spain.
Into the top is tooled the official coat of arms of the United Kingdom, featuring a lion and a unicorn supporting a shield.
The words "Honi soit qui mal y pense" (on the circular garter surrounding the shield) in old Norman French translates to "Shame be to him who thinks evil of it", the motto of the Order of the Garter which dates from the 14th Century in support of Edward lll's claim to the French throne.
"Dieu et mon droit" (on the scroll at the bottom) translates to "God and my right", the official motto of the British Monarch.
