"Tom's Photo Finish" is the 109th animated theatrical short in the classic Tom and Jerry series, originally released by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer on November 1, 1957. Written, produced, and directed by the iconic duo of William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, it represents one of the final shorts produced during their original tenure at MGM before the animation studio temporarily ceased production.
Plot Synopsis:
The story centers around a refrigerator raid. Tom sneaks into the kitchen and eats a leftover chicken right before his owner, George, comes to check on the food. To escape blame, Tom frames the sleeping bulldog, Spike. However, Jerry catches the entire frame-up on camera. Jerry retreats to his mouse-sized darkroom, prints dozens of copies of the incriminating photograph, and scatters them all over the house. The rest of the short features a frantic, slapstick battle as Tom desperately tries to destroy all the prints before George and Joan discover the truth.
