Detroit Schwaben Unterstützungs-Verein (Swabian Support Association) organization cap.

This German fraternal organization offered financial support and cultural activities in the various German communities around the United States. The functions of the German branch are primarily carried on by the Detroit area Carpathia Club.

This captain-style hat features a hard brim and white cloth body. The band is a black & red ribbon with the name of the organization in gilt lettering, and accented with black and red braiding held by gold tone studs.

A tag inside indicates that this was the cap of Otto Schwab.

Measures approx. 21.25” around the inside band.

In good wearable condition with some marks & staining, a break in the fabric of the cloth, as well as some fraying at the band. The gilt lettering is faded.

I have another of these caps, on which the lettering is more faded.
