The wood carving draw knife is sometimes called a “crooked knife”. Fine wood hilt of beautifully figured hard wood, curved, with spoon or thumb form terminal. The base with fine corn wrap, inset to be flush with the wood. 3” blade, probably remounted from a folding knife. Leather covered scabbard, unusually, with a wood body or core. The scabbard face is decorated with a Thunderbird, suggesting an Algonquian or Iroquois origin. Below, a fish and tree. The knife is probably late 19th century while the scabbard appears to be about a generation later, early 20th century, which is consistent with generational use in a family.
