DETAIL: Alexander Hamilton Scott was born in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland on 30 August 1876. He was articled to Peter Caldwell in Paisley from 1890 to 1895 and remained with him for a further year as his assistant. He also attended Paisley School of Art. He then worked as an assistant to Robert Wemyss (1865-1955) in Glasgow and to James Archibald Morris (1857-1942) in Ayr in 1896; and to David Morrison Barker (1858-1933) in Glasgow, and to William Baillie (1875-1951) in Glasgow in 1897.
In 1897 Scott was appointed architect to the Caledonian Railway Company Architect's and Engineer's Department. He left the following year to take up the post of architect to the architectural and civil engineering firm Babtie & Bonn in Glasgow. He remained with the firm until 1906. The following year he joined forces with the Glasgow architectural and civil engineering firm Babtie, Shaw & Morton an entry for a competition to design buildings for the Scottish National Exhibition held in Edinburgh in 1908.
In 1908 Scott set up his own independent practice in Glasgow and in 1911 he was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA). His address was given as 43 Mill Street, Paisley in 1911; and 103 Stevenson Drive, Shawlands, Scotland in 1923 and 1929. He died in Glasgow on 7 May 1929.
As a painter he exhibited at the Royal Glasgow Institute Of Fine Arts from 1900-1920.

You are welcome to ask questions about the frame condition before buying but we cannot accept returns or requests for 'part refunds' because a frame arrives with some existing damage not sustained in transit.

All paintings are sold without glass for safety in transit. Replacement glass costs just a few pounds, is easily fitted, and saves the strong likelihood of your artwork getting damaged in the post if glass were included. We ship within a maximum of 3 days of purchase and will use a variety of 24-48 hour parcel carriers including Parcelforce, UPS, Yodel, City Link and Hermes. Internationally we generally ship UPS on a 5 day service. We ship worldwide apart from The Russian Federation and certain other countries where we cannot get parcel company coverage. You are also welcome to collect from our address near Cirencester, Cotswolds – at no charge. Unfortunately we have to charge a small premium for UK Highlands & Islands as well as Northern Ireland, please email for a postal quote if you live in these areas of the country.
We accept returns when notified within 48 hours of receipt. If the return is due to an error on our part then we will pay up to £12 for the return postage. If the return is for other reasons, not the fault of ourselves, then we will not pay for the return postage but will refund the full purchase price (excluding postage) on receipt.
