READ CONDITION NOTES - DAMAGED
A pair of original snapshot photos from Port Arthur, Texas. One photo shows two people that climbed up to the top of the radio tower. The other photo shows an aerial view of the city...taken from the top of the radio tower in the other photo. One of the buildings visible in this photo is the "Canal Machine Works" which confirms this as Port Arthur based on historical business records.
The backs of the photos have typed descriptions...they are somewhat difficult to read because of paper addition/loss. One appears to read: "Parkland (naval radio operator) and myself took a climb." The other reads: "Looking across city from the (????) Ave. It extends about 4 miles to the right than shown here and (...) several taller buildings. This (...) 4 years ago from tower shown in picture."
SIZE: The radio tower photo measures 3 1/4" by 5 1/2" in size and the aerial view measures 5 1/8" by 3"
CONDITION: DAMAGED showing significant wear. Photo backs have heavy paper addition, paper loss, and adhesive residue from being glued in an album at one point. Fronts have impressions from the typed text. The radio tower photo has some paper loss and wear on the front, plus some other general surface abrasions Both photos have corner wear, surface wrinkles, and fingertip impressions from handling.
