Up for auction is the uncatalogued 1969 Hamilton "Mystery Model" in a stainless-steel case and 4 diamond dial.
This exact watch was produced during the final days of Hamilton’s historic Lancaster, Pennsylvania factory. To clear out their remaining inventory of high-grade, American-made movements before transitioning fully to Swiss production, Hamilton created a limited run of these distinct dress watches. Because of this sudden factory closure, this model never appeared in any official consumer sales catalogs, earning its legendary "Mystery" status among vintage watch collectors. While a few models were cased in gold, the stainless-steel execution is highly coveted for its sleek look and structural durability.
This timepiece has been incredibly well-preserved and is in exceptional condition.
The 34mm stainless steel front-loading case features crisp edges and zero signs of heavy wear.
The radial sunburst silver dial is absolutely gorgeous, bright, and free of the typical spotting or heavy patina seen on watches of this age.
Features stunning, clean factory-set genuine diamond markers at the 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions.
The bold Hamilton "H" logo and the rare "18 JEWELS" text across the bottom are perfectly crisp. (Hamilton almost never printed jewel counts on domestic dials, making this dial variation highly sought after).
Under the hood is the robust, American-made Hamilton Caliber 736 manual-wind movement.
Finding a 1969 Mystery watch is difficult enough due to its very limited production. Finding one in a robust stainless steel case with an exterior this pristine and a movement that looks like it just rolled off the assembly line is an absolute rarity.
