James Milroy Brydson (20th September 1876 - 23rd December 1935): James was born in Dalbeattie, Kirkudbrightshire and played for 6th G.R.V. before signing for Partick Thistle on 6th May 1898.

His first appearance for Thistle was as a trialist on 4th May 1898 in a 6 - 1 win over Rugby Rovers in a Benefit match with James scoring a hat-trick. He scored the last of his four known goals for the club on 9th May 1900 in a 2 - 1 win over Morton in the Western League and played his last game for Thistle on 15th May 1900 in a 3 - 2 friendly win at home to Galston having made at least 7 appearances for the club.

Having played for Hamilton Academical on loan from Partick Thistle during the 1899 - 1900 season, in May 1900 he signed a permanent deal with Hamilton Academical which is why it is known he was a Hamilton player during the 1900 - 01 season.

It is also known James also had a spell with Preston North End.

Lanarkshire Cup: This was a football knock-out competition for clubs who were members of The Lanarkshire FA and was played for between 1879 - 80 & 1995 - 96.

1900 - 01 Lanarkshire Cup: In their run to the Final of the Lanarkshire Cup in the season 1900 - 01, Hamilton Academical beat Dykehead 4 - 0, Royal Albert 8 - 3 in a replay & Carfin Emmet 3 - 1. In the Final held at Fir Park, Motherwell on 20 th April 1901, Hamilton Academical lost the game 3 - 1 against Motherwell.
