Delightful Victorian Japanned Cased Mantle or Desk Clock by J.W Benson of Ludgate c.1870

This superb petite totally original french 8 day timepiece, is in good used working & serviced condition. It was originally retailed by the renowned 18/19thC scientific instrument maker, gold/silversmith, watch & clockmaker “James William Benson of Ludgate Hill, London”.

The french mechanism runs perfectly and all parts, including the pendulum have the same serial number, so totally original. It’s housed in a Japanned pine case with some gilt decoration below the porcelain clock face, which has a roman numeral chapter ring and has some hairline cracks commensurate with its age & use. Overall is measures 9.5”H x 6.5”W x 5”D and will come with a winding key.
