The cards were never released in any retail version. Apparently produced in an attempt to obtain a license from Major League Baseball and the Players Association.

The backs show 'Hi-Pro Mktg, inc copyright 1987. This was the marketing firm for the new licensed Score Baseball issues. The back design is the same as that used in the 1988 Score set.

The gold foil, embossed design was actually used for the first licensed Action Packed football issue.

Ozzie Smith from this set is considered a 'Short Print'. The Cardinal stars' face was considered too dark and thus reportedly not submitted with the licensing attempt.
