Attractive & collectable 9ct gold & enamel Scottish football medal won by Allan McClory playing as goalkeeper for Motherwell FC as they won the Lanarkshire Express Cup in the season 1925 - 26.
The Lanarkshire Express Cup (formerly the Coatbridge Express Cup & the Lanarkshire Consolation Cup) was a knockout football competition fotr teams based in Lanarkshire. It ran from 1889 - 90 to 1925 - 26 with Motherwell being the last winners so presumably they retained the trophy.
The front of the medal depicts the Scottish Lion Rampant picked out in red & yellow enamel on a raised roundel. It is embossed:
"EXPRESS CUP 1925 - 26"
The obverse is engraved:
"WON BY MOTHERWELL F.C. A. McCLORY"
Included with the medal is a printout of the Wikipedia page relating to Allan McClory. The final two photos are extracted from "The Winners" by Bernard Stocks and depicts all the winners of the Lanarkshire Express Cup including Motherwell who won the trophy in 1925 - 26 (this is provided for reference only and is not included with the medal).

Allan McClory (11th November 1899 - 9th July 1983): Scottish footballer who played as goalkeeper for Motherwell, Albion Rovers & Montrose. He spent most of his career with Motherwell and was part of ghe team that won the club's only Scottish Football League title in 1931 - 32 (the pinnacle of 8 consecutive seasons in which they finished in the top three).
He also played in two Scottish Cup finals in 1931 & 1933 but lost both to Celtic. Allan played 428 League games for Motherwell between 1924 & 1938 before departing to Albion Rovers in 1939.
Allan was selected twice for the Scottish Football League XI and won three full Scottish Caps between 1926 & 1934.
Summary: As can be seen from the photos & history (above) this is an interesting and one of the rarer Scottish football medals to come up for sale. Good luck!
