1978 Chevrolet C20 Pick-Up **Unrestored !**
Remarkable piece of history.
Bought new from Koons Chevrolet in Wymore, Nebraska by the original owner in 1978.
He fitted a camper shell in the rear and used it twice a year, for shooting or fishing vacations.
Legend suggests the rest of the year it spent undercover in his barn.
He sadly passed away after 38 years of ownership and the truck was bought minus the camper shell, by an importer from Newcastle, who in 2022 sold it to its next UK owner in Birmingham.
I purchased the vehicle in 2024 and now want to pass the enjoyment onto a new custodian.
The truck has covered just 42000 miles in 48 years !
It starts first time every time, with zero battery drain. It was left three months over winter unused, and with a couple of pumps of the throttle, fired straight up and idled like it had just been switched off.
Build sheet, owners manual, warranty card, maintenance schedule and spare keys in the dealers leather pouch
are all intact.
Highly specced Scottsdale model with power brakes and steering, heavy duty shocks and springs, front sway bar,
and a\c. (may need gassing). MOT and tax exempt.
The truck bed has done no work, having had the camper attachment for most of its life and all of the chrome trims are lazer straight and dent free.
I have only carried out some essential updates to preserve the trucks originality.
They include replacing the original radio (which although working, only picked up Talk Sport or Punjabi Radio)
with a Retrosound Bluetooth model running an underseat bass and hidden speaker set-up.
Swapping the original for a period wood rimmed steering wheel as the horn stopped working, and had the wheels
re-powder coated in the original white.
The brakes, wheel bearings, battery, fuel pump and belts have all recently been replaced.
A Mexican blanket style seat cover stops you from burning your arse (if the sun comes out !), on the original vinyl seat
which is in good condition apart from a couple of small splits on the seams.
Other than that, it’s timewarp 1978 and drives as good as it looks.
