3403-2023) Plains or Great Lakes Region Native American Beaded Steatite Stone Pipe and Bag with red white and blue color glass seed beads skillfully woven into tanned hide leather. Beadwork pattern appears to be a maple leaf with a fire with crossed logs and flame underneath. Within the maple leaf are cobalt blue colored seed beads that appear to be in the shape of a downward pointing arrow towards a carved canoe. The bag measures approximately 18 inch x 6 inch while the pipe is around 9.5 inch length. The bag has a flap cover along with leather strip accents. The pipe has a carved and polished bone stem with a wooden body that has been beaded with a green brown and black color steatite bowl and wooden body accented with a tuft of what appears to be rabbit fur. In my opinion the pipe and bag are historic in age likely created within the last 150 years. Condition is mint G10+ Museum Quality. The matched pair were framed by the previous owner on a linen covered board enclosed in a custom-made plexiglass cover. The cover is easily removable via 6 flat head screws and the frame is ready to hang on the wall. I purchased this set from a private estate located in a gated community in Frisco, Texas. The previous owner was a Lt. Colonel retired USAF whom became a commercial aircraft pilot and ultimately worked as a consultant for a Dallas, Texas energy group.
