Those of you who know what this is will be aware of the lore - in the early to mid 2000s, Gibson produced a run of Les Paul Standards that were more affordable because instead of the very laborious final coat of gloss nitro, they were instead not grain-filled, they were hand-stained and were shot with a thin coat of finish that was left satin.
The other thing that sets these apart is they were extensively weight-relieved, and the later runs were in fact chambered, which makes them very lightweight for a Les Paul.
Other than that they are in every respect a Les Paul Standard. They became very sought after when Larry Corsa bought up a whole bunch of them and turned them into "Greeny" Les Pauls (long before Gibson and Kirk Hammett went ahead with the actual "Greeny" tribute models, of course).
This is an example of a guitar from the final year of production (2009). It is chambered so extremely light for a Lester at 7lbs 6.5oz. I know chambered Lesters are anathema to some people but honestly this is one of the best I've played.
As you can see from the pics it's got some very nice flame. Condition-wise I'd say it's an 8/10 for a 17-year-old. There is no damage, just exactly the kind of wear you'd expect to see on a guitar with this kind of finish that has had moderate use. The back of the neck in particular is now very smooth and feels nice and silky. Speaking of the neck, it's that "50s" profile that is nice and round and chunky, not '58RI baseball bat territory but a very decent handful. The fretboard is a nice dark rosewood. The frets are in really great shape with tons of life left.
It's been upgraded to the very highly regarded OX4 PAFs (I think the medium wind) with raw nickel covers, and 50's wiring. The bridge volume and tone pots are set up to interact in a way I've never seen before but is really interesting, and gives you access to very precise shaping. These mods were done by the previous owner, and I've found them to be really nice and musical.
It comes with its original black snakeskin/white fur case, the hangtag with the final inspection notes, and the little Gibson booklet. Absent is the pickguard. The previous owner took it off, probably to showcase the gorgeous top, but there is accordingly a wear mark between the pickups on the treble side.
Collection strongly preferred from PR1, but if you really can't get to me I will pack it carefully for shipping.
I may consider trades but it would have to be something special.
