Antique 1930's OHMITE MFG.Co. Chicago Model P wire wound Rheostat.

15 amp, 1 ohm, Spec no 11391A.

The United States Patent with the number 2,040,278 describes a rheostat. The inventor of this rheostat is David T. Siegel from Chicago, IL. The patent was filed on April 29, 1935, and granted on May 12, 1936.

This rheostat features innovations in the design of the contact arm, brush, and their connection to the operating shaft. The invention aims to improve the construction of these movable elements within a rheostat.

The knob is bakelite.

It looks used, maybe for a short amount of time.

The side has chips in the insulation ceramic.

Dusty, as-found condition.

This is probably just a wall hanger or display piece, it may be used for anything though.

Check out the pictures for a better understanding of the condition.
