Offered here is an antique apothecary / chemist balance scale set housed in its original wooden storage case and accompanied by multiple brass dram and grain weights stamped LAMB – Chicago.

This style of portable balance was commonly used by pharmacists, chemists, jewelers, and assay offices in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to weigh small quantities of powders, medicines, and precious materials with precision.

The scale features a steel balance beam mounted to a central post with suspension wires supporting two brass pans. The base doubles as a fitted storage box for the weights and scale components.

Included with the set are several original brass weights marked LAMB – Chicago, including dram, scruple, and grain denominations. Markings visible on the weights include examples such as:

• 1 Dram – 60 Grains
• 2 Drams – 120 Grains
• 3 Drams – 180 Grains
• Scruple – 20 Grains
• Additional small grain weights

The weights follow the traditional apothecaries measurement system used historically by pharmacists.
