Broxburn United FC: Was a football club based in Broxburn, West Lothian in Scotland and was a member of the Scottish Football League from 1921 to 1926.
Broxburn United was formed in April 1912 when it became clear that a small town like Broxburn could not support two senior sides so Broxburn and Broxburn Athletic merged to form the new club. They were admitted to the Scottish Football League Second Division in 1921 but it was difficult for a town of just 3,000 people to sustain a League club. Hence, the club struggled in the League and were ejected at the end of the 1925 - 26 season in favour of Forfar Athletic.
They then joined the Scottish Football Alliance for the 1926 - 27 season but found this too taxing so soon joined gthe ranks of Scottish junior football. They survived until 1932 when financial troubles put them out of business.
Summary: As can be seen from the photos & history (above) this is a rare medal in the history of Broxburn United FC and for the town itself. As the newly named Broxburn United were formed in April 1912 it is likely the Penman Cup was the first trophy won by the newly formed club. Good luck!
