Acquired in the 1980's by an Aspen collector.
The Burmese lion known as Toe or Cinthe, represents a legendary creature from Burmese mythology said to live in the Himalayan forests.
Toe has a lion’s face, a bull’s horn’s and a horse’s hooves and tail.
This 156 gram weight was used as standard measure in trade for precious herbs, medicines, spices as well as its namesake - opium.
Beautiful piece of history wearing signs of use commensurate with age.
