It's notable not only as a music memorabilia but also a piece of Chicago political history. Chicago Fest was a music festival established in 1978. Jane Byrne became mayor in 1979 and attempted to cancel Chicago Fest. Wanting to put her own spin on things, she favored a rebranding and smaller events spread over the summer. However, a public relations campaign mounted by the Chicago Tribune and Labor Unions as well as public opinion gained enough support to convince Byrne to reverse her decision. From then on as long as she was mayor her name was prominently displayed on all promotional materials.
