Up for sale is a vintage Seiko 6458-6020 mid-sized Diving watch, model with a serial number dating it to April of 1985These models are basically Seiko's mid-sized (38mm) version of more common Seiko 7548 divers from the same era - most are also rated to 150M and have the same features (screw-down crown, rotating bezel, etc.).  I'm not sure if these were ever exported to the US the way 7548 models were, however - this one and every other example I've owned I purchased from Japan and with a bilingual English/Kanji day wheel.  This example, however, is the "Professional" version of the 6458 that is rated to 200M.  The only difference I am 100% sure it has compared to a regular 6458 is that there is an anti-magnetic shield under the caseback, covering everything but the battery.  The "professional" equivalent of the full-sized divers used a different movement (7C43 vs. 7548) that I know was higher-torque, but given that the movement number is the same here I doubt that's the case.

Mechanically, I just replaced the battery and the watch appears to be running well and fully functional, though I am not sure when (if ever) it was last serviced.  The watch sets as it should and the day/date feature works as it should, including via the quickset.  The crown screws down, the bezel turns cleanly, and the watch hacks as it should.

Cosmetically, obviously, it's in excellent shape, but please check the photos carefully yourself.  It's not NOS, but it's in really stellar condition across the board - you can see there is a lot of the original blue sticker remnants still on the caseback.  Also some other crud, which I didn't want to try to get off because I am worried about removing more blue sticker.  In any case, when I went to look at this watch in my collection it had its original band, which promptly split on me when I took it out of the case.  Right now its on an aftermarket waffle-style rubber strap that suits it well, but I'm including the (broken) original band too (see last two photos) in case you want to do anything with it.

Note: I haven't been selling in a long while as my watch buying trickled to nothing given the tariff situation.  But now I decided to do a major cull of my collection, and in particular I am selling off some watches that I own as duplicates of others differing only in colorway.  This will be a long term project but I have plenty more coming...

Happy bidding!

I'm an amateur collector of vintage Japanese watches, mostly Seiko and Citizen.  As such, I won't accept returns unless the watch arrives in different condition than as described.  Please examine all photos as they are part of my description.  This will only ship internationally via ebay's "global shipping program," which is the (expensive) quote you should automatically see in the listing if you aren't in the U.S.  In my first real attempt at using this, I received messages from folks in Spain, England, and France all telling me that it wouldn't let them bid, so I apologize if it does so for you - there's nothing I can do to correct it :(.  If you have a feedback score of less than 10, please contact me prior to bidding or I may cancel your bid.  I am happy to combine shipping costs as long as whatever I'm selling will fit safely in a flat rate small USPS box, but the Global Shipping Program won't let me do this unless you agree to cancel your auction wins and re-do the sale as a single Buy-it-Now option, so be warned of that eventuality if you are an international bidder.  I generally don't consider a buy-it-now option.  Thanks and happy bidding!
