Vintage handmade blue velvet evening dress, likely mid-to-late 1940s.

Deep sapphire velvet with asymmetrical floral embroidery in coral thread and green bead accents. Fabric-covered buttons down the bodice. At least one button missing and the snap of the small magnetic button is missing. Fully lined. It does appear to have a belt loop.

No label — appears to be handmade or custom dressmaker construction.

Please compare measurements to a garment you own. Vintage sizing differs from modern sizing and I'm also not an expert in measuring clothes!

Condition

Pre-owned vintage condition with wear consistent with age:

• Small hole at one underarm seam
• Minor velvet nap wear/compression at underarms
• Small light surface residue on one sleeve (pictured)
• No bead loss observed
• No label

Sold as-is. Please review all photos carefully. I took care to take detailed photos of flaws I observed so there would be no surprises.

This would make a strong addition to a vintage collection, costuming wardrobe, or formal event piece or for a talented tailor or seamstress who wants to bring this beauty back to life!
