series of three (3) reproductions of works by the artist Bernhard Emhardt (as indicated by the signature "Emhardt" visible in particular on the beach painting).
These works are part of the movement of naive art.
1. Seaside landscape (Dunes and Thistles)
* Subject: A coastal view in bright colors. In the foreground, we can see large blue thistles (Eryngium) and a small black dog sitting in the grass.
* Composition: Two trees frame the horizon where the blue sea meets a sky dotted with black birds and two white seagulls in the center.
* Signature: “Emhardt 83” lower right.
2. The Manor or Country Castle
* Subject: A large symmetrical yellow building with dark shutters, located behind an imposing wrought iron gate.
* Details: The decor is autumnal (orange and brown foliage). We see many characters (children, passers-by) and black dogs in the foreground in front of the gate, which gives a very lively and narrative aspect to the scene.
3. The Dog Farm
* Subject: A traditional country house with a red tiled roof and a small tower.
* Details: The focus is on three dogs in the foreground (a Boxer, a Bernese Mountain Dog and a Pointer or Pointer type pointing dog). The garden is full of flowers and we can see people busy in the background near the house.
Technical characteristics and condition
* Style: Naive art characterized by a simplification of forms, saturated colors, an absence of classical perspective and a great attention to anecdotal detail.
* Supports: These are reproductions framed under glass with a white mat.
* Back of the paintings: The labels on the back indicate that they come from the "Galerie am Domplatz", which suggests a German origin (probably from Münster, where this gallery is renowned for naive art).
* Dating:
These paintings are typical of interior decoration from the 80s and 90s, appreciated for their warm, bucolic side and their childish charm.
