A beautiful piece of handmade pottery made by Cherokee Mel Cornshucker. He is well known for his Native designs. His pottery is thrown and made by hand, and the clay he uses is heated to 2,400 degrees then are poured into a mold and heated to approximately 1,500 degrees. Mel Cornshucker's pottery has been featured in art shows, galleries and museums across the country. This piece is in good condition and unique. It shows areas where the slip drips and then during the firing it stays that way. This is a unique characteristic to this handmade piece. It measures 13" x 8" x 1.5” and weighs 30.2 ounces.
CONDITION - see photos
1. There is one flee bite chip on the edge and 2. one chip on the underside. 3. I can’t tell if the edge is glazed and slightly rough or if it’s tiny flea bites - I believe it’s glazed but am including that area as the third photo in order after the 2 I’ve just mentioned.
