"Samanta Deva" Bull / Horseman

Obverse:  Recumbent bull; Brahmi inscription "His Excellence Samanta, the God"

Reverse:  Rider with a lance and flag

circa 900-950 AD.  Early, nice style, good silver. 

"Samanta Deva" coins were initially of good silver, but soon declined in size and weight and were produced and imitated for centuries to come.
