Antique Coalport Shape Neo Rococo Tea Set, Duck Spout Teapot Sucrier Creamer +

This teaset is unmarked other than the odd decorators mark to the base in the form of x's or symbols in green. I believe the shape matches the Coalport teapot shape as documneted in the Anthology of British Teapots (Miller & Berthoud) plate 1915 and the cup in the anthology of British Cups (Berthoud) in plate 781, both attributed to Coalport.

The set includes

Teapot - holds nearly 3 pints 21cm tall, 26cm wide 1218grams
Sucrier - 17cm tall, 16cm wide, 670grams
Slop Bowl - 17.5cm diameter, 8.4cm high, 480grams
Creamer - 14cm wide, 11.5cm tall, 267grams
4 Tea Cups 10.5cm diameter, 7cm high, approx 140grams each
1 Coffee Cup - 8cm tall, 8.5cm top diameter, 127grams
4 Saucers 14.8cm diameter, approx 150grams each

The Teapot is in a neo classical design with wonderful duck head spout, shaped and split handle with matching sucrier. The pieces are all hand painted with flowers, similar patterns I have found call them Moss Rose. There is lots of gilt decoration in good order. The cups have distinctive ring and spur handles and there is delicate moulding to the rims of most pieces. I believe this set will date to circa 1835 and is in fine condition for this age.

I have included a number of photos and these probably describe the item better than I can and form part of the description. Everyone has different considerations when purchasing items and if you need any further information, please feel free to contact me and I will try to help.

Condition: In a very reasonable condition for age, not totally faultless as there are some very small issues, the teapot has a very short hairline or even stained crazing to the base of the spout, the sucrier has a stress fracture visibe on the underside of the rim, two cups have what I would call a small stress fracture to the rim, the slop bowl decoration to the base has worn away and has lots of utensil marks. One cup and the slop bowl have lighter decration than the rest. No chips and the guilding is in lovelly condition. Teapot pours well. The sucrier lid is out of round and will only fit one way. There are lots of black impurities in the glaze.

Please feel free to ask any questions but please please ask through Ebay. Unfortunately, selling on Ebay generates a lot of spam and dubious emails and we now only respond to questions placed directly through Ebay. We will try to answer questions as soon as possible. There are times where we may not be able to reply within 24 hours but we will reply well before the listing ends.

Packing - We pack to ensure the item arrives with you undamaged. If you have specific packing instructions, please contact us before paying as this may have an impact on the price, as both an increase in weight or size can increase the cost of delivery.

We do try to recycle boxes and other materials wherever possible and will mostly use newspaper for padding out, if it does not have any impact on the cost of postage.
