Mordovka - common term meaning imitations of wire and early Russian coins (less often, Golden Horde or other coins) minted by the non-Russian people in Mid-Volga region.

This coin was struck in the territory of Mordovia or Chuvashia (Russia) in the 15 - 17 centuries. It imitates Russian kopecks of that period. It belongs to the early issues of mordovskas, which were struck rather than cast. There is an unproven theory among researchers that this type of mordovka was minted in the Kazan Khanate as a form of currency.
