A fabulous, rare pair of vintage Frattegiani oxford-style shoes. Soft purple leather with gold foil ceramic detail at the heel. They appear to be unworn; likely stored and never worn outdoors.
Frattegiani was an early competitor to Ferragamo in Florence, Italy, but unfortunately did not enjoy the mainstream status of Ferragamo whose star continued to rise. There are signs of storage wear to the shoes, but no actual damage to note. Enjoy the photos and reach out with questions.
No size indicated, approximate measurements below:
Interior length:10"
Exterior width: 3.25"
Heel height: 1.25"
The last two photos in the listing are from the Hartford Courant who wrote about a similar style in 1952. See below for their feature:
Most exciting and unusual, however, are the ceramic heels and trims. There's a divine black suede single-eyelet oxford-tie with a flat gold embossed ceramic heel. They're soft as only antelope can be. Yes, they're wearable and practical. (at least we hope so: we ordered them because they were irresistible!).
