This auction is for a WORKING Heathkit Model AG-9A Audio Generator. This has been restored to working condition with the following replacements:
- Replaced all electrolytic and paper capacitors
- Replaced the main power on/off switch
- Replace the power cable
- Replaced the output terminal posts with modern equivalents.
- Replaced two of the grey knobs with the correct Heathkit parts.
- Replaced the candelabra lamp
Note: A previous owner (perhaps the constructor?) built the audio generator with an additional output amplifier stage, based on a 6SN7 vacuum tube (valve). This has a gain potentiometer located on the rear of the case, and can be switched in/out of circuit using an additional switch. I have replaced the capacitors on this circuit, and made no other modifications. It works. If you wished to remove this, it should be simple to do although the switch and potentiometer holes would remain.
Cosmetic condition: The front panel is the cleanest of the test instruments I'm selling, with only two small scratches (see photos). The top of the case has the decals "GREAT" on top. I've tried wiping with a damp cloth. A stronger solvent will be required to remove this (IPA?). The rear has the additional gain potentimeter already mentioned.
Also included: The construction manual. This is just a printout of a scan that can be downloaded from the Internet.
