Salomon S Pro 90W Ski Boots - Black Beluga
RRP: £320
When choosing a ski boot you need to be realistic about what you want to achieve, how many times you have been on the slopes, and your ability. Typically a high volume boot will be more suited to the skier who wants comfort over performance. A Medium volume boot provides greater performance with a much closer fit around the foot. A low volume boot is designed for higher performance and skiers who are more confident on piste. Low volume boots will take longer to become comfortable as they can feel tight around the foot.

Flex: The Flex of the boot indicates the energy required to flex the cuff of the boot forward into the required ski position. The higher the number the greater the effort required to flex the boot forward. The harder effort provides greater pressure onto the ski and therefore better response.
Size - Mondo Point (MP): The boot size is measured by its Mondo Point, a Japanese metric size that reflects the true foot size.
Last: The last of the boot indicates the width across the mid foot. Typically ranging from 106mm to 92mm the last indicates the wrap around the foot. The narrower the boot the higher the performance. Some brands allow the full moulding and expansion of the ski boot giving a variable last.
Volume: The Volume of the boot is determined by the last, the higher the last the larger the volume throughout the boot. Larger volumes provide a comfortable relaxed fit that is also ideal for a wide foot.
Buckles: Typically all buckles will be micro adjustable allowing a fine tune between the holding point on each buckle and providing a better fit. The two buckles on the upper calf section will also be macro adjustable to allow additional volume in the upper part of the boot if required.
Sole: Grip walk sole plates are slightly curved at the front of the boot and provide a better grip and shape when walking in the boots. Be aware that a Standard sole plate can be used in any Alpine binding, Grip Walk sole plates can only be used in Alpine bindings that are Grip Walk compatible.
Power Strap: A wider power strap, the velcro strap at the top of the boot, distributes the tension over a greater area therefore reducing pressure points on the leg when pulled tight. The power strap can be used to pull in the top of the boot giving a more technical response.
