the Edo Era (1603~1868).
The design of the tsuba
is 茸(Kinoko) (=
a mushroom).
The material of the tsuba
is iron.
The signature of this
tsuba is “江府住 赤尾吉...”.
We cannot read the last
kanji letter that comes after the word “吉”,
but probably the last
letter is “次”.
The word “江府住” (kofu-ju) means “(I live) in Kofu.”
“Kofu” is Edo (Tokyo).
The name of the craftsman is “赤尾吉次” (Akao Yoshitsugu)
