»Regimental Sgt. Zippo is the legendary “album that never was” by Elton John. At the beginning of 1968 he was signed as an artist with DJM and recorded 12 tracks for a debut album in the DJM studios on London's New Oxford Street. It is unclear why the album was never released, but an order of the tracks was established.

As part of the unearthing of material for the Jewel Box, the original order was discovered: Following the success of the limited mono release for Record Store Day in 2021, we now offer an industry-wide release in stereo, mixed at Abbey Road with the usual care of Elton's catalog team. In addition to the previous release, this new LP edition comes with a printed inner sleeve with Allen lyrics.
