Collectable 9ct gold & enamel Scottish football medal presented to a player or official of Falkirk FC as they were crowned Champions of the Scottish Second Division (tier 3) in the season 1979 - 80.
In the 1979 - 80 season, Falkirk won the Scottish Second Division Championship with 50 points, one more than their nearest rivals, East Stirlingshire and were subsequently promoted to the Scottish First Division (2nd tier).
The front of the medal depicts the Scottish Lion Rampant picked out in red enamel. It is embossed:
"SCOTTISH FOOTBALL LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP"
The obverse is engraved:
"SECOND DIVISION 1979 - 80 Winner"
The medal comes in a contemporary presentation case but this is not original to the medal.

Falkirk FC: Professional Scottish football club based in the town of Falkirk, they currently play in the Scottish Premier Division, the top tier of Scottish football.
They have never been crowned Champions of Scottish football but hold the record of winning the fist tier Championship (1st Division/Championship) 8 times in 1935 - 36, 1969 - 70, 1974 - 75, 1990 - 91, 1993 - 94, 2002 - 03, 2004 - 05 & 2024 - 25.
In addition they have won the 3rd tier (Scottish Second Division/League One) twice in 1979 - 80 (the medal for sale) & 2023 - 24.
The club has won the Scottish Cup twice in 1913 & 1957.
