Already party press officer when the Nazis came to power in 1933, Otto Dietrich remained in post, a close confidant and propagandist for Hitler, almost until the war’s end. After a period of imprisonment he dramatically revised his opinion of the Third Reich and in this memoir, first published in the 1950s, systematically dissects Hitler’s personality, using many personal anecdotes to explore how Germany had been seduced into following him.
