"A Single Man" was one of the most anticipated albums of Elton John's career. The Elton John who greeted the world in 1978 was released two years after his last album, “Blue Moves,” and cut a dark, serious figure.

Working without producer Gus Dudgeon for the first time since 1970 and with Bernie Taupin for the first time since 1967 (the only original album of his career recorded entirely with him), "A Single Man" contained two of Elton's most popular hits, "Part-Time Love" and the poignant, almost instrumental closer "Song For Guy."
