The concept album reissued
Alan Parsons fans can look forward to two special reissues in 2021: The British musician, sound engineer and producer is reissuing his albums “On Air” and “The Time Machine” on CD and LP. The two vinyl versions come on Translucent Blue Vinyl respectively. Transparent vinyl, are numbered and limited to 1500 copies each.
»The Time Machine« was released in 1999 and is Alan Parsons' third solo album. It's about time travel and remembering the past.
The vocals on the concept album come from, among others, Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet), Colin Blunstone, Maire Brennan (Clannad), beverly Craven and Neil Lockwood (ELO).
Sounding like a combination of the 1970s Alan Parsons Project with a pinch of Pink Floyd, "The Time Machine" is a sonic experience that will delight fans of Parsons, New Age and electronica.
The album opens with the instrumental "The Time Machine (Part 1)", written by Cockney Rebel drummer/composer Stuart Elliott (later Al Stewart and Kate Bush et al), which is similar to the way the Project used to open their album. There is the gentle song “Out Of The Blue,” with lead vocals from Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet. “Ignorance Is Bliss” is one of the most beautiful songs with the vocals of former Zombies lead singer Colin Blunstone.
PS: Here you can find the reissue of “On Air”.
The vinyl has a bonus track: the “Dr. Evil" version of "The Time Machine" with the voice of Mike Myers as Austin Powers from the second "Austin Powers" film, in which the Alan Parsons Project is mentioned. The stylish artwork on the vinyl version was done by Peter Curzon.
