Of the three printings with the title page dated 1895, this is generally accepted as the first with a lizard stamped on the front cover, no inserted frontis and page [318] is blank. 316, [1] pp. Bound in publisher's green cloth stamped in brown; gilt top edge. Near Fine with light toning and soiling to cloth, corners slightly softened with former owner's rubber stamp to front pastedown. A much nicer copy than normally found. Chambers' collection of supernatural short stories that would serve as an influence to a young H. P. Lovecraft. Bleiler 364.
