we offer the first retail edition of the second book in the deeply moving
and insightful "Little House on the Prairie" series, Little House on the Prairie,
by Laura Ingalls Wilder, with illustrations by Helen Sewell, published
by Harper & Brothers, New York. The book was originally published in this form in
1935, and all subsequent printings of these bore that same date, but
they were actually printed in the 1940's and 1950's. This copy, for
instance, bears a 1935 date, but the "I-X" code indicates a 1951 printing, before the book went to a second edition with a different
illustrator and the publisher became "Harper and Row". The book comes wrapped in the highest-quality, newly-remastered facsimile of the first edition dust jacket that you can only get here, printed with archival pigment inks on coated heavyweight bond. The
polymer coating on the paper ensures the brightest colors and sharpest
prints, as the ink sits atop the paper rather than being absorbed into
the fibers.
Book has been caught in the rain, so the cover and endpages have moisture stains (please see pics). Endpapers are intact and period-inscribed. Very tight and square binding. Very bright and crisp text and illustrations. 201 pages, plus a page
of ads. The book measures approximately 8.5 x 7-inches. The dust jacket comes securely sleeved in ph-neutral mylar and
ready to slip into your collection.
