CANADIAN ARMED FORCES CENTURION TANK The 57ton Centurion tank has a maximum speed of 21 mph with a cruising range of approximately 100 miles. It is powered by a 675 hp Rolls Royce V12 engine. The same type of engine was used in the famous Battle of Britain Spitfire aircraft during the Second World War. Carrying a crew of four, the Centurion's armament consists of a 105 mm gun and a .50 cal machine gun mounted in and on the turret. The tank can move and fight in fog and total darkness with the assistance of navigational aids and infrared night fighting equipment. With additional kits it can float across or snorkel under water.
