The metal icons with tactics and strategy

Parlophone Records proudly quit the publication of Iron Maiden's new, 17. Studio album »Senjutsu«. It is the successor to her number one album "The Book of Souls" from 2015, and thus the first longplayer in six years.

The British hard rock and heavy metal icons recorded the record in Paris with their long-time producer Kevin Shirley. Steve Harris acted as a co-producer. A total of ten songs made it to »Senjutsu«. With a playing time of just under 82 minutes, the album, like its predecessor, comes as a double CD or triple-vinyl album.

Bassist Steve Harris to the album: »We decided to record again in the Guillaume Tell Studio in France because this place simply has such a relaxed vibe. The setup there perfectly meets our needs; The building used to be a cinema and has a very high ceiling, which results in a fantastic acoustic sound. We recorded this album in the same way as ›The Book of Souls‹, namely in such a way that we write a song, practice and record them directly together, while we still have everything fresh. On this album there are some very complex songs that have required a lot of hard work to get their sound as we wanted it, so that the process was sometimes a challenge, but Kevin is very good at capturing the base and I think it was worth the effort! I am very proud of the result and can't expect the fans to hear it. "

Lead singer Bruce Dickinson continues: »We are all really scratched up because of this album. At the beginning of 2019 we took it during a break of the Legacy tour in order to be able to tour as much as possible and still have a long lead to the release in order to prepare a good artwork and something special as a video. Of course, the pandemic has delayed things even further - so much to plans in advance, or should one rather say 'strategies'!? The songs are very diverse, and some of them are quite long. There are also one or two songs that deviate from our normal style and I think the Maiden fans will be surprised-positive as I hope! "

The term "Senjutsu" comes from Japanese and means freely translated "tactics and strategy". For the cover design, Iron Maiden once again committed Mark Wilkinson, who designed the motif for me samurai theme based on an idea by Steve Harris.

In July, "The Writing on the Wall" was released with two former Pixar executives, produced by Blinkink based on a concept of Bruce Dickinson.

"Senjutsu" is available as a double CD (Standard Edition) and as a limited deluxe edition with the double CD in book format as well as a 3-LP set on black vinyl and as a limited indie edition with three LPs on Red & Black Marbled Vinyl. A limited box set with a double CD, Blu-ray and exclusive memorabilia is also waiting for real Iron Maiden fans.
