David Bowie, who is musically and of course visually most versatile rock and pop musicians of all time, returned to the old virtues after his trip to the brachial rock ("Tin Machine" I & II): He brought ex-chic man Nile Rodgers back on board-he had produced David Bowie's Mega-Album "Let's Dance".

He played again for the first time in a good 20 years with his old Spider from Mars buddy Mick Ronson. He made a lot of sophisticated soul, was keen to experiment (including in a jazz-infected track with his namesake from the avant-garde Jazz, Lester Bowie), and again he covered songs that should sound like in the 70s, including a piece of Morressy originally produced by Ronson or one Number from the Walker Brothers, where David Bowie obviously comes out as a fan of Scott Walker.
