The critics stood headed in the run -up to the publication of their debut album “Come Away with me”. Magazines such as Rolling Stone and Entertainment Weekly have already praised the then 22-year-old singer and pianist as one of the greatest talents of our day over the Green Klee.
In fact, the artist who grew up in Texas and now lives in New York, who has already been awarded a student in Dallas for her singing and composition talent from the jazz magazine Down Beat, dominates rare art. Almost imperceptibly, this dainty -looking creature makes blues, country, folk, jazz and pop merge into a coherent and strong unit.
Her piano game has been compared to Bill Evans, her singing style with Joni Mitchell and Tom Waits. But Norah Jones ultimately sounds like Norah Jones. Her interpretations of Hank Williams (“Cold, Cold Heart”) and John D. Loudermilk (“Turn Me On”), intensely and intimate the songs on their own (“Nightingale”) or that of their companion musicians and companions Lee Alexander and Jesse Harris seem extremely refreshing.
Supported by the two top producers Craig Street (Cassandra Wilson, Holly Cole), and Arif Mardin (Bee Gees, Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston) as well as some top musicians (Brian Blade, Bill Frisell), “Come Away With Me” has created a sensational first work that Norah Jones is largely needed Pophoff. Blue Note boss Bruce Lundvall has discovered a real jewel.
But that's not all, at the almost dizzying pace, "Come away with me" storms the Billboard Top 200 Pop album charts, the last was 58th place.
