For serious indie collectors only.
Offered here is an original 1988 cassette release of Close Lobsters – What Is There To Smile About, issued on Enigma Records (73342-4) under license from the legendary UK label Fire Records.
Close Lobsters were one of the standout bands from the iconic C86 movement, alongside The Wedding Present, The Pastels, and Primal Scream. Their jangly guitars and literate songwriting made them cult favorites among indie fans worldwide.
This cassette is exceptionally scarce: while the vinyl and CD formats occasionally surface, the cassette edition was produced in extremely limited numbers and rarely appears for sale. Many collectors don’t even realize a U.S. cassette version exists!
• Cassette: Excellent, tested and clean
• Inlay: Original artwork in sharp condition
• Case: Original with minor shelf wear (see photos)
• Comes from a smoke-free, well-kept collection
🌟 Why this matters:
• Rare cassette format: Almost never seen on the market
• Key C86 band: Part of indie history, beloved by collectors worldwide
• Cult label crossover: Fire Records (UK) x Enigma Records (US)
• A true time capsule from the late 80s underground scene
